Abstract

|
|
Two novel steroidal saponins designated as spicatosides A(1) and B(2) were isolated from the tubers of Liriope spicata and their structures were elucidated as 25(S)-ruscogenin-1-O-beta-D-glucopyranosyl (1-> 2)-[beta-D-xylopyranosyl (1-> 3)]-beta-D-fucopyranoside (1) and 26-0-beta-D-glucopyranosyl 25(S)-22-0-methyl-furost-5-en-1beta, 3beta, 26-triol 1-0-beta-D-glucopyranosyl (1-> 2)-[beta-D-xylopyranosyl (1-> 3)]-beta-D-fucopyranoside (2), respectively.
